The Word 2007 Blog Post feature is quite handy, but it wasn't long before I discovered that I just couldn't upload images along with my blog posts and the upload URL and source URL options were just too confusing since I wanted to use my pro account of Photobucket. After a lot of searching and multiple failed attempts with Word 2007, I shifted over to Windows Live Writer. I have to admit, I am really pleased with the results. However, most people might have a hard time trying to figure out how to associate their pro Photobucket FTP accounts with Windows Live Writer in order to upload images along with their blog posts and that is why I decided to write this post today, to help them out! So here is what you have to do:
- Make sure that you have a PRO account for Photobucket since only then the FTP options will be enabled.
- Before we proceed, open up your browser and log into your Photobucket account.
- For any image uploaded inside your album, note down the direct link.
- Note the path from http:i89....all the way to ukjadoon (it's ukjadoon in my case because that is my account name, in your case however, replace ukjadoon with your own account name.
- After setting up your blog go to Tools>Accounts inside of Windows Live Writer
- Select your blog account and then click the edit button.
- Select the images option and then click on the upload images to an FTP server radio button and finally click on the "Configure FTP" button.
- Enter the hostname as ftp.photobucket.com
- Enter your Photobucket username and password
- Enter a folder name to publish your images into
- Enter the above details, replacing the path with the one you noted down from the previous step (for the direct Photobucket link) and entering the name of the folder (Blogger in my case) at the end right after your username
- Hit OK and you are done.
- Now the blog posts that you write can have images added into them and they will also be uploaded via Windows Live Writer to Blogger. Happy blogging!
