Before buying home printers, you should be clear about what purpose you are going to use it for. This little blog entry will help you make your decisions on the fly.
Inkjet Printers
They are by far the cheapest home printers out there but don't buy them if you have tons of pictures and documents to print everyday since they can run out of ink frequently and are not made for heavy usage. Plus, refilling their cartridges every now and then can become quite costly. Choose an inkjet printer only if you don't print too frequently!
Laser Printers
They may seem to be more expensive than inkjet printers but for printing loads of text, they are the best choice. Their initial cost may seem higher, but if you require to print a lot of text documents, they are much cheaper than inkjet printers in the long run. For printing pictures though, they may not be the best choice since the lower cost versions only print pictures in mono colors (black and white only) while the higher cost models may print colored pictures, they still may not be as good looking as the pictures printed by Inkjet models. On the other hand, if pictures are all you want to print, then photo printers may be your ultimate choice for home printers.
Photo Printers
These are your ultimate bet if you want to print tons of pictures/invitation cards/handouts etc.
