Yissum: A Technology Transfer Company for the Hebrew University of Jerusalem

While looking at technology related stuff, I came across Yissum, a company which provides Technology Transfer Services for the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Their main objective is to market and make commercially viable, the knowledge generated and the inventions made by the students and researchers at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The Technology Transfer Company has been turning projects into commercial products for the Hebrew University since the last 40 years and in this time period, it has granted over 400 technology licenses. They have been extremely successful in their venture as a University Technology Transfer company and their funded products generate over $1 billion dollars of revenue each year.

The spin-off companies that saw the light of the day with the help of Yissum include major players like Mobileye and Nasvax. The university generates business opportunities and inventions in many different areas of knowledge which include nutrition, nanotechnology, agriculture, computer science, pharmaceuticals and computer science (just to name a few). Yissum has strong links outside of Israel as well to help make the technology and knowledge generated at the Hebew University commercially viable for the international marketplace. Be sure to check them out if you are interested in learning more.
